The things we keep tell us who we are
Decoava sculptures are designed by Ava Mitchell in her Kamakura, Japan studio and handcrafted in small batches by our artisan partners — each piece cast in stone resin, sanded and finished entirely by hand. No two are perfectly alike.
Small enough to hold. Quiet enough to disappear into your morning. And present enough that one day, walking past at dawn, you'll stop — just for a second — and feel something you can't quite name. That is what they're for.
"A good sculpture doesn't fill a room. It makes the room quieter."
— Ava Mitchell
Meet Ava Mitchell
A RISD and Yale-trained sculptor who left the New York gallery world behind. After four years of silence in Japan — studying Zen ceramics, walking coastlines, unlearning everything — she picked up clay again. Now she sculpts from a wooden studio in Kamakura, making quiet forms for the spaces where your real life happens.
